Candidate for District 8, Erika Strassburger, Convenes Women’s Issues Roundtable Discussion with Local Leaders
March 5, 2018 – Pittsburgh – Over the weekend, Erika Strassburger, candidate in the special election for District 8, convened a women’s issues roundtable discussion with local leaders. With Councilmembers Deb Gross and Theresa Kail Smith, women who work with LGBTQIA organizations, labor unions, policy leaders, and more, Erika discussed her record of fighting for women and opportunities to move new policies forward on the city level.
Erika helped create city policies that help women, including availability of lactation rooms for city employees, LGBTQIA protections, welcoming legislation for immigrants, and policies to help close the gender wage gap among city employees.
“I really appreciated all the insights shared by this incredible group of experts,” Erika Strassburger said. “There are so many things we can do on the city level to help women and families: from improving our schools to expanding early childhood education opportunities, from making sure our water is safe for everyone to drink to making sure women and families can find affordable housing. If I am lucky enough to be elected to work for the constituents of District 8, making sure we implement policies that lift women up will be a priority for me.”
